Caribbean Vacation Aboard a Bareboat Charter
The Virgin Islands are a bareboater’s tropical playground. Long-time sailors as well as first-time charterers have the exhilarating experience of sailing or motoring the blue Caribbean waters, where the tradewinds are consistently fair and the line-of-sight islands make navigation a breeze. Bareboat charters offer you the freedom to choose where you want to go, and do it on your own timetable. Moorings are abundant throughout the islands, so you can plan whatever activity suits your mood that day.
Choose your day’s destination, and look forward to a quiet cove where you can relax under a canopy of stars and let your cares and troubles blow away with the soft evening breeze, go ashore for a stimulating hike and view the whole British Virgin Island chain 360 degrees from the highest point of the island, dive overboard in your protected cove and snorkel through lovely underwater landscapes, or find a sleepy beach bar that comes alive at night with music and dancing. It’s up to you! On a bareboat, you are the master of your fate; you are the captain of your soul! Mainsail is your best source for booking the best bareboat to suit your unique needs. We had a great time! The weather was perfect – it rained every day – but only for 5 or 10 minutes. Winds were from the east nearly the whole time as expected and mostly 15 to 20 knots – sometimes more.
The boat was fine – perfect for 2 couples.
CYOA was very accomodating and easy to work with – all the personnel there were very friendly and helpful. Their resident taxi driver – Wells – was eager to please.
The highlights of the trip for me were: wonderful dinner at the Drake Hotel in Road Town, good snorkeling at the caves on Norman Island, Manchioneel Bay on Cooper Island – good snorkeling and a fantastic dinner at the Cooper Island Beach Club, The Baths on Virgin Gouda (as my girlfriend calls it) – more great snorkeling,Bitter End (of course) – with a visit to Saba Rock for dinner, Cane Garden Bay, The Bubbly Pool on Jost, The Soggy Dollar bar on Jost Our only complaint would be that time seems to go faster down there and the trip was over too quickly! Thanks a lot for your help in planning! Alan Godoy
